Most of us do not want to believe that it could happen to us or we all are "wishing" away the havoc and the cost this could cause on our Home Based Businesses. I have seen this often, as a Computer/Small Business Consultant. I am the person you will call immediately and in your panic state, you will demand I come over, “right now” to fix the problems. Being your Computer Support Specialist and a Home Based Business owner, myself, I sincerely, can understand your panic. You may only have 1 Computer that is your only access to your home or online business, the one that you use everyday to build and update your website, the only one that has your customer data base, all of your sales receipts, your newsletter email list, your vendor contacts, your banking information and the list could go on and on. You may have a Small Home Based Business, where you have networked 2 or 3 Computers together and they all share access to each others files or they all share access to the main system that holds all the files and you religiously do a Daily Data Backup on a schedule, to the main Computer on your network. You may use DVD’s, CD’s, Tape Drives or another Hard Drive and think you are safe from losing your data to computer problems. Damage from lost files in business computer crashes will halt your Business and rob your profits to the horrifying realization, that, you are out of business in a matter of days. Below, I have listed some of the problems that I encountered during my career as a Computer Support Specialist. I bet that one of these has crossed your path at least once, on your own computer lifetime.
Technical Disasters: Viruses, worms, file corruption, hard drive crash & failure, power failure, system updates
Human Disasters: Accidental changes, deletions or overwritten files, theft (laptops, drives), disgruntled employees

What will the cost be for you to hire a Computer Support Specialist, like myself, to come to your home to fix your Computer problem and the recovery of your lost data? Well, I am very reasonable, since I only charge $30 per hour, plus travel to your location (Gas = $25). Total 1st hour cost = $55 and $30 per hour, there after. (Not including cost for Parts).
The time needed to recover lost data may vary greatly. If a Data Backup exists and is readily accessible, the time needed to recover data may be very short. At the high end of the spectrum, if the data is corrupted on the hard drive, then several days may be required to retrieve the data. If the average time needed to recover lost data, that is readily accessible, is approximately 8 hours, then you owe me = $265. Now, here is where you will see the reality and the horror of the cost, at the high end of the spectrum. I am at your location for 3 full 8 hour days, extremely costly = $795.00. OUCH!!!! What if the whole Computer system needs to be replaced because of Natural Disasters or your system was stolen? If that happens, where is all your Business Data for me to put back onto your new Computer? Will your business be able to afford me or will you be out of business by the time I leave your door?
